Texada is seeking our next Cloud Operations Director

As the Director of Cloud Operations, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing our cloud strategy, driving the success of our SaaS platform tailored for equipment dealers and rental companies. Your responsibilities will span strategic planning, infrastructure design, implementation, optimization, and team leadership to ensure our cloud environment is scalable, reliable, and secure.

Work location and travel

This position is remote/hybrid. Our home office is located in Mississauga, ON. While there are no regular office days, there may be meetings you would be expected to attend in the office.

How you will be contributing

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the cloud operations strategy, aligning it with the company's business goals. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for leveraging AWS services and features to drive innovation, enhance efficiency, and accelerate time-to-market for new features and updates.
  • Platform Architecture: Design and architect highly available, fault-tolerant, and cost-efficient cloud solutions on AWS. Utilize services such as AWS EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and ECS to build scalable infrastructure and optimize performance. Implement best practices for security, compliance, and disaster recovery.
  • Infrastructure Management: Oversee the provisioning, configuration, and monitoring of AWS resources across multiple environments (e.g., development, testing, production) by employing infrastructure as code (IaC) practices using AWS Terraform to automate resource deployment and management.
  • DevOps Practices: Foster a culture of collaboration, automation, and continuous improvement within the cloud operations team. Implement DevOps methodologies and tools such as AWS CodePipeline, TeamCity and Jenkins to streamline software delivery pipelines, improve code quality, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Security and Compliance: Drive initiatives to strengthen our cloud security posture and align with regulatory requirements. Collaborate with the security team to establish and enforce robust security controls and compliance measures. Deploy identity management, encryption, and auditing solutions to protect sensitive information, control access, and meet regulatory requirements.

What we are hoping to find in your background

  • 10+ years' experience in the software industry building highly scalable and performant technology solutions.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of success in leading cloud operations on AWS for SaaS solutions at scale.
  • Deep expertise in AWS services and features, with hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure on AWS.
  • Experience in designing and executing cloud migration strategies, including lift-and-shift, re-platforming, and modernization approaches.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve excellence.
  • Experience with one or more of PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, DynamoDB, MongoDB
